Stewardship Corner: 2025/2026 Season Monarch Count

The Xerces Society just released results from the Western Monarch Count, including this season’s mid-season tally of 471 monarchs in Pismo Beach. While numbers are much lower than historic counts, monarchs have proven to be remarkably resilient. After reaching record lows in 2020, Western populations rebounded in the following years, underscoring both their fragility and their capacity for recovery when habitat and conservation efforts align.

Learn more at the Wine & Wings: An Evening for Monarch Conservation while sipping local wines.
