Choose a 1-day, 2-day, or 90-day pass and enjoy complimentary tastings at up to 12 local wineries, home to acclaimed cool-climate wines, from elegant Pinot Noir and crisp Chardonnay to a diverse range of coastal varietals.
Wine Tasting Downtown Pismo Beach
Only steps from the Pacific, downtown Pismo Beach’s tasting rooms pour some of the finest Central Coast wines. You get the same Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and cool-climate varieties that draw visitors to Edna Valley and Paso Robles, steps from your hotel. The tasting rooms here are small, unpretentious spaces where the owners often pour your glass. You can taste five wines and be at dinner ten minutes later, still with sand in your shoes.
Home to fewer wineries than the wine country regions, Pismo’s downtown scene remains intimate. You’ll find knowledgeable staff who enjoy talking about wine rather than pushing sales. Walk-ins are welcome at most spots. Dogs are welcome at several. Pair your tasting with dinner just blocks away or sit for an hour with a single pour and watch the afternoon light change on Price Street.
Tastes of the Valleys
Nearly a thousand wines by the glass are available, sourced from 170 Central Coast wineries. Owner Ash Mehta and partner Lissa Hallberg keep the wine list rotating, so every visit is different. The sommeliers here know their subject and explain it without any pretension. You can grab a flight of five to six pours for $20, or taste your way through something specific. The space is low-key with small bistro tables and a wine bar where you can watch bottles get poured. Pick up bottles to take home from the retail side.

Sans Liege Wines
Winemaker Curt Schalchlin focuses on Rhône varietals, Syrah and Grenache especially, sourced from Central Coast vineyards. His wine, “The Offering,” landed at number 20 on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 in 2019. The Pismo tasting room is contemporary and open, comfortable enough to spend an afternoon. Curt and his wife personally pour many tastings. There are three tiers to choose from.

Cali Love Wine
Amanda and Luke opened Cali Love to celebrate California wines without taking things seriously. Pink decor, hand-made wines from small local vineyards, karaoke all day. Their “Wild Thing” sparkling peach mango has a devoted following. They work with sauvignon blancs and other varietals, too. Tastings run $20 per person. Walk-ins welcome. They frequently book bachelorette parties, birthdays, and group celebrations. Dogs are welcome, and children can come until 7 pm.
Good for: Celebrations and group events. Anyone who likes karaoke with wine. Those exploring wine for the first time in an approachable, low-pressure setting. Photo opportunities.
Puffer’s of Pismo
Charlie Puffer runs what’s billed as Pismo Beach’s hippest wine bar, a small, intimate space with a thoughtful collection of 50 local wines and craft beers. The kitchen keeps the menu small but excellent, with cheese plates, charcuterie, gourmet tapas, and seasonal small plates made to pair with wine. What sets this place apart is live music. Local and traveling musicians perform several nights a week, with a five-dollar cover that goes entirely to the artist. Check the Pismo Beach events calendar before you go. The vibe is relaxed but energetic, with interesting regulars and visitors mixed in.

Brix Wine Bar & Bottle Shop
Brix opened in late 2024 on the newly revitalized Shell Beach Road. Co-owners Jasi and Gilbert Sotello wanted a space to celebrate small-production, sustainable, and natural wines from Monterey to Santa Barbara. Bar manager Nicholas Carrade brings experience from wine-focused restaurants in Nashville. The 450-square-foot space is sleek and bright with local greenery. Around 40 wines rotate through at any time, along with craft beers, ciders, and light snacks. A wine club delivers two curated bottles monthly.
The neighborhood is freshly walkable with free parking and new restaurants opening nearby. Pets welcome. Wheelchair accessible.
