Pismo Beach has a way of becoming the trip people don’t stop talking about. The one that turns into a tradition before you even realize it, the place your kids will remember long after the summer fades. There’s something about the ocean breeze here, the way the pier looks in the morning, the sound of live music drifting across the lawn at golden hour, that stays with you.
This season, the classic car show is back to take over downtown, outdoor live music is sprinkled across the calendar, and the beach is ready to make you feel like yourself again. Come make the memories worth keeping.

40th Annual Pismo Beach Classic Car Show
This one draws car lovers from across the world (yes, even international visitors), and honestly, it’s worth the trip even if you’re not a car person. The Classic at Pismo Beach runs May 29–31, 2026, taking over downtown with hundreds of show cars, live music, beer gardens, and a vendor village steps from the beach.
Saturday is the main event. Watch 200 cars cruise through downtown in the Official Classic Cruise from 6–8 PM, then stay for the charity auction, where the Just Cruzin’ Life Foundation raises money for organizations like Folds of Honor and Ronald McDonald House. Sunday wraps with Show and Shine judging and the awards ceremony.
Admission is free. Book your stay early as parking fills fast and being in town means you can walk to everything.

Art in the Park and the Summer Market
Two of the best excuses to come to Pismo Beach without an agenda are back for the season.
Art in the Park returns to Dinosaur Caves Park on June 7 with 50-plus local artists and makers, live music, and a blufftop setting above the water. It runs monthly through summer, free to attend, and easy to spend a few hours at with kids or dogs in tow.
The Pismo Summer Market kicks off May 27 and runs every Wednesday from 4–7 PM through early September at the Pier Plaza. Local vendors, fresh food, live music, and that golden late-afternoon light over the water. It becomes a weekly ritual pretty fast.

Bike Month in Pismo Beach
May is National Bike Month and Pismo Beach happens to be one of the better places on the California coast to celebrate it. The Bob Jones Trail runs flat along the creek all the way to Avila Beach, the Pismo Preserve has 11-plus miles of singletrack with ocean views, and the ride out to Edna Valley wine country is there for anyone who wants to earn their glass.
Several hotels offer complimentary bike rentals for guests, which makes it easy to skip the car entirely for a day. Didn’t pack one? Local rental shops have you covered too.

Pismo Beach is the kind of place where you park the car and don’t need it again until you leave. Walk to the pier, the beach, the farmers market, a concert on the lawn, and dinner with an ocean view, all without doubling back. Or swap the car for a bike and cover even more ground.
However you spend it, a weekend here has a way of turning into something you start planning again before you’ve even left. Book your stay by checking out our lodging specials.
